Recently we were told the story of a Housing Trust dwelling where the home owner had a serious hoarding disorder.  The home was strewn with hundreds of empty cat food tins and various household possessions leaving only narrow gaps for walkways throughout.

The hundreds of opened tins of cat food provided the ideal food and harbourage source for tens of thousands of German cockroaches, while the hoarded household goods extended the domain in which this pest was able to hide.  It was estimated that there were well over 20,000 roaches in this small dwelling.

Sundew was contacted by the pest management professional whose mammoth task it was to bring the situation under control.

The recommendation from Sundew was the new EnsnarePRO 50 Suspension Concentrate Liquid with 50 g/L indoxacarb.  This is the first non-staining, non-repellent liquid formulation of indoxacarb available to pest management professionals in Australia, a real innovation and game changer for the industry.

The interesting challenge of this particular situation is that the pest controller was told he could not remove the clutter of cat food tins or domestic clutter for the treatment process.  The pest manager instructed the client that there was an expectation that 4 to 5 follow-up treatments may be required.

A single treatment of EnsnarePRO was applied throughout and onto harbourages, with the first follow-up scheduled for a fortnight after.

At the first visit the pest technician contacted Sundew and informed them that not a single living cockroach could be found anywhere.

At the end of 4 weeks from time of treatment the owners had the house cleaned of cat food cans and all household clutter.  The technician came in at this time and was also unable to find a single living cockroach.
